Aviation Investment: Stronger Appetite for the Smaller Ticket
Thursday, September 10 | 10:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.
Moderator: Olivia Matsushita, Sidley Austin
Investor appetite for engines has been strong in a weak-yen environment, with smaller ticket sizes making them suitable for a broad range of investors. Regional aircraft have emerged alongside engines as an area of growing JOL investor interest for similar reasons, and helicopters are increasingly under consideration as an aviation asset class. This panel will explore what is driving demand for these assets and where future opportunities may lie, including:
- Are smaller ticket assets attracting new investors into aviation, and what impact has this had on pricing and asset availability?
- Has regional growth across Asia changed the investment case for turboprops and regional aircraft?
- How do arrangers compare the risk and return profile of engines and regional aircraft against traditional narrowbody JOLCO investments?
- What is driving investor interest in helicopters, and how do they compare with engines and regional aircraft in terms of ticket size, liquidity, operator risk, and long-term return potential?
