Biography
GEORGE COELLO advises U.S. and international clients on a broad range of asset management transactions involving private equity funds and other alternative investment vehicles.
Prior to joining Sidley, George was an associate at another global law firm based in New York. He has extensive experience in fund formation, structuring, offering, and operation, as well as secondary transactions and the negotiation of fund terms and documentation involving investors, sponsors, and other service providers.
George graduated from George Mason University Antonin Scalia Law School, where he was a member of the Hispanic Bar Association of the District of Columbia. He is fluent in Spanish.
Community Involvement
Pro Bono
At the height of the 2024 immigration crisis, as part of a team of lawyers, George traveled to the US-Mexico border to volunteer with the American Bar Association’s Pro Bono Asylum Representation Project (ProBar). This initiative was crucial in offering legal assistance to recently arrived individuals at or near the Rio Grande border. George’s work involved a combination of educational experiences and hands-on legal support, ensuring that those in need received the representation and guidance necessary to navigate the complex asylum process.
