Biography
ASHLANDE GELIN advises clients on U.S. trade enforcement, trade remedies, and foreign-trade zone matters. She helps companies navigate complex agency proceedings, develop persuasive advocacy strategies, and manage the litigation and compliance risks arising from U.S. trade actions.
Prior to joining Sidley, Ashlande served as a lawyer at both the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Office of the Chief Counsel for Trade Enforcement and Compliance, and the Office of the General Counsel at the U.S. Trade Representative’s Office of Monitoring and Enforcement (formerly the Trade Remedies and Enforcement Division). Her experience inside both agencies gives her practical insight into how trade enforcement decisions are made and how clients can most effectively position issues before the government.
At Commerce, Ashlande defended agency determinations before the U.S. Court of International Trade and U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, advised on anti-dumping and countervailing duty proceedings, and advised the U.S. Foreign Trade Zones Board on matters under the FTZ Act and regulations, including production notifications and production applications.
At USTR, she worked on Section 301 trade enforcement matters, including the China Section 301 exclusion process.
Ashlande draws on her experience to help clients build strong administrative records, make effective arguments before agency decision makers, and navigate high-stakes trade matters before government agencies and in court.
