EMMA LABOUNTY focuses her practice on litigation.
Prior to joining Sidley, Emma served as a law clerk for The Honorable Frank H. Easterbrook of the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. She also worked as a Public Interest Law Institute fellow at the American Civil Liberties Union of Illinois.
Emma graduated with high honors from the University of Chicago Law School, where she was elected to the Order of the Coif and served as an articles editor on the University of Chicago Law Review. While in law school, Emma received an award for “Excellence in Pro Bono Service” from the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois for her work in the Mandel Legal Aid Clinic’s Employment Law Clinic. She was also active in OutLaw.
Emma earned her B.A., with honors, in history and law, letters, and society from the University of Chicago.
