Biography
SHERLYN LAU is the deputy head of Sidley’s multidisciplinary China Corporate and Finance practice. She has two decades of experience advising on initial public offerings (IPO) in Hong Kong, mergers and acquisitions, secondary equity fund raisings, listing rules compliance, and pre-IPO private placements. Sherlyn has extensive experience working with regulators in Hong Kong and has successfully completed the most complex and pioneering transactions across a number of sectors, including real estate, life sciences/biotech, emerging technology, e-commerce/retail, food and beverage, and mining and resources.
Sherlyn is ranked as a Leading Individual in Equity Capital Markets by Chambers Greater China Region (GCR) 2022 – 2025 and Legal 500 Asia Pacific 2025. She is described as “an extremely strong and reliable lawyer who strives to look after the client’s interest, in addition to her profound legal expertise”. “Sherlyn has maintained very strong relationships with the regulators. (HKEX: 2658), represented the sole sponsor and underwriters, in connection with its US$214.6 million initial public offering and H share listing on the Main Board of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. Tianyu Semiconductor is one of the largest manufacturers of silicon carbide (SiC) epitaxial wafers in China.
- Softcare Limited (HKEX: 2698), in connection with its US$306.6 million initial public offering on the Main Board of The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong. Softcare develops, manufactures, and sells baby and feminine hygiene products and focuses on fast-growing emerging markets including Africa, Latin America and Central Asia.
- Jiaxin International resources Investment Limited (HKEX: 3858), represented the sole sponsor and underwriters, in its US$153 million dual primary listing on the Main Board of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange and Kazakhstan’s Astana International Exchange (AIX).
