
Biography
RYLAND PLOEGER focuses her practice on mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, corporate governance and shareholder activism, and corporate takeover defense work.
Prior to joining Sidley, Ryland was a summer associate at another global law firm. Before attending law school, she was a Fulbright Fellow to Bahrain and worked in humanitarian aid, youth development, and policy in the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, and Jordan.
While attending the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School, Ryland served as editor-in-chief of the Journal of Law & Innovation, president of the West Coast Law Students Association, and director of the International Human Rights Association. She also completed a Foreign Language Area Scholarship for Arabic language study through the University of Pennsylvania’s Middle East Center.

- Arsenal Capital Partners (Arsenal), a private equity firm specializing in building industrial growth and healthcare companies, on the sale of its portfolio company, Applied Products, Inc. (APPLIED Adhesives), to Bertram Capital.
Shareholder Activism Defense
- Texas Instruments in its activism campaign defense against Elliott.
- Sleep Number in its activism campaign defense against Stadium Capital.
- Oportun Financial Corporation in connection with its cooperation agreement with Findell Capital Management LLC.
