Michael L. Roberts

MICHAEL ROBERTS focuses his practice on complex patent litigation. Michael has represented clients in the Eastern District of Texas, Western District of Texas, Northern District of California, the Western District of Washington, and the District of Delaware in litigation matters involving a variety of technologies, including power converter technology, wireless communications, website development and user interface software, automotive electronics, consumer electronics, and memory modules. His experience in these matters includes taking depositions of fact witnesses, e-discovery management, and preparing written discovery responses, invalidity contentions, infringement contentions, claim construction briefs, expert discovery, motions for summary judgment and other pretrial motions, and trial. Michael has represented clients before the Federal Circuit, including drafting briefs in connection with interlocutory appeals of district court orders and appeals of PTAB final written decisions. He also has experience drafting petitions for inter partes review and ex parte reexamination and assisting in ITC investigations.

In addition, Michael maintains an active pro bono case load and has worked on immigration proceedings and Texas state trial court and appellate cases. In these pro bono matters, Michael has prepared witnesses, taken depositions, and drafted briefs.

Michael earned his J.D. from The University of Texas School of Law, where he served on the Texas Intellectual Property Law Journal. Prior to law school, Michael earned an M.S. in physics at the University of Arizona and a B.S. in physics at American University, where he graduated magna cum laude with Honors.

Michael is a member of the Intellectual Property Law Section of the State Bar of Texas.
