
Biography
TERESA REUTER represents employers in a wide variety of employment matters in the Labor, Employment and Immigration practice. Terri defends companies in complex wage and hour class actions, as well as discrimination and other employment-related litigation. Terri also represents clients in litigation and other matters involving accessibility for individuals with disabilities, including counseling both employers and places of public accommodation on accessibility and accommodation issues and requirements.
Terri counsels employers on a broad range of matters including personnel policies and procedures, employment and executive contracts and agreements and employee disciplinary matters. She conducts internal investigations for companies and their boards concerning discrimination, harassment, conflict of interest and other employment-related issues, involving employees at all levels of the company. Terri also regularly assists in corporate due diligence projects in connection with the sale of businesses.
Prior to joining the firm, Terri clerked for the Honorable Stephen S. Mitchell (ret.) of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Virginia. She received her J.D. from Emory University School of Law in 2009, where she served as editor-in-chief of the Emory Bankruptcy Developments Journal, and her B.A. in political science and sociology from the University of Florida.

- Spire Inc. in its US$2.48 billion acquisition of the Piedmont Natural Gas local distribution company business in Tennessee.
- Apollo and its independently managed affiliate, Redding Ridge Asset Management (RRAM), in RRAM’s acquisition of Irradiant Partners (pending).
- OrbiMed and RA Capital Management in Verdiva’s US$411 million Series A financing.
- The special committee of the board of directors of Nordstrom, Inc. (NYSE: JWN) in its US$6.25 billion acquisition by certain members of the Nordstrom family and El Puerto de Liverpool, S.A.B. de C.V. (pending).

Community Involvement
Membership & Activities
As an active participant in Sidley’s over 30 year-old corporate partnership with Kanoon Magnet Elementary School, Terri leads the firm’s Lawyers in the Classroom Program in partnership with the Constitutional Rights Foundation Chicago and sits on the Kanoon Committee. She also serves as a member of the Family Defense Center’s Programming Committee and the Joffrey Ballet’s Auxiliary Board.
Terri earned the Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management, Executive Leadership Program Certification, 2025, by participating in the 2025 Built to Lead 2.0 program.
Pro Bono
Terri devotes a significant amount of time to pro bono efforts, including participating in the firm’s Capital Litigation Project in which Sidley lawyers across the country represent prisoners on death row in Alabama. Terri is currently representing a client in a collateral review proceeding challenging the client’s conviction and sentence. Terri also has obtained expunction of the records of two mothers in appeals before the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services in conjunction with The Family Defense Center’s pro bono program. Terri also advises non-profit arts and social services organizations on employment matters.
