Sidley partners Peter Malyshev and Ian McGinley will take part in the American Bar Association’s Winter Meeting on Derivatives and Futures Law, a leading forum on the regulatory, legal, and market developments shaping the futures and derivatives landscape.
Peter will chair the final day of the meeting and provide introductory remarks.
Ian will participate in a featured AI Ethics panel. Using a practical hypothetical, the panel will examine the ethical risks and professional responsibility considerations associated with the use of artificial intelligence in legal practice. Topics will include ABA Formal Opinion 512, lawyers’ duty of supervision, private equity investment in law firm AI tools, conflicts of interest and confidentiality, and the management of AI-generated errors.
This session will provide timely guidance for attorneys navigating the responsible and ethical adoption of AI technologies in an increasingly complex regulatory environment.
