
Biography
JULIA M. CHESTER is a lawyer in the IP Litigation practice in Sidley's Dallas office. Ms. Chester’s practice focuses on brand development, trademark protection, and copyright procurement and enforcement for the global intellectual property portfolios of Fortune 500 companies, high growth ventures, and start-ups. Ms. Chester has experience in all aspects of U.S. and international trademark law including international cross-border transactions, enforcement, prosecution and opposition of trademarks; social media, cybersquatting and the Internet; recovering trademark domain names through Uniform Dispute Resolution Proceedings (UDRP); global management of intellectual property counsel; IP transactions due diligence analysis, transfers and securitization; IP licensing; technology outsourcing agreements; and U.S. Customs enforcement for the seizure of infringing imports. Ms. Chester also has extensive experience in connection with strategies for acquisition, ownership, management and enforcement of copyrights, entertainment rights agreements and publishing agreements.
At Southern Methodist University, Ms. Chester was Articles Editor for the Computer Law Review and Technology Journal. Ms. Chester is recognized as being highly accomplished and a leading player by the World Trademark Review, The World’s Leading Trademark Professionals edition.
Julia has been named by D Magazine as a Best Lawyer in Dallas for 2017 and 2020. She has also been recognized as one of the world’s leading trademark professionals for 2017 – 2020 by World Trademark Review.
