Biography
MACKENZI EHRETT focuses her practice on representing clients involved in civil and regulatory litigation and appeals.
Prior to joining Sidley, Mackenzi served as a deputy associate counsel in the White House Counsel’s office, where she was responsible for providing legal advice and guidance regarding the nominations and appointments of Article I and Article III judicial nominees, judicial nominations to Washington, D.C. courts, and executive branch nominations.
While attending law school, Mackenzi was the executive editor of the George Mason Law Review, a member of the Supreme Court and Administrative Law Clinics, and a member of the Moot Court and Jessup teams.

Mackenzi’s representative matters include:
- Representing a company defending against alleged violations of the Clean Air Act.
- Secured dismissal of a breach of contract action related to the breakdown of a corporate partnership.
- Successfully moved for dismissal of a False Claims Act case due to improper service.
- Represented a company involved in multiple cases arising out of an industrial accident.
- Represented a medical billing company in a False Claims Act case.
- Represented a school challenging discriminatory penalties assessed against its athletic program.
- Represented a company in a False Claims Act investigation related to billing practices.

Mackenzi maintains an active pro bono practice which focuses on First Amendment litigation and Supreme Court appeals. Among other pro bono engagements, Mackenzi is involved with Sidley’s partnership with the Yale Law School’s Free Exercise clinic, which files amicus curiae briefs in appropriate religious liberties cases.
