Proposed Changes to the California Proposition 65 Short-Form Warning Label

December 23, 2021

Has it been only three years? Get ready to revise your Proposition 65 labels again.

On December 13, 2021, California’s Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) published proposed modifications to the regulations regarding the short-form warnings under Proposition 65.

Proposition 65 requires businesses to warn Californians prior to their purchase if their products are going to cause significant exposures to chemicals that cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm. The proposition requires the state of California to publish a list of such chemicals, which, as of now, has grown to close to 900 chemicals. The chemicals on the list include those found in pesticides, household products, food, drugs, dyes, and more, and the list is available to the public
