Sidley Advises Orion Resource Partners on Record US$2.2 Billion Fundraising
March 18, 2026
Sidley represented Orion Resource Partners LP (Orion) in connection with its successful fundraising of approximately US$2.2 billion across its latest investment vehicles, marking the largest capital raise in the firm’s history and bringing its total assets under management to well over US$9 billion. The fundraising underscores strong investor demand for exposure to the metals and mining sector, particularly in strategies focused on critical minerals essential to global electrification, energy transition, and supply chain security. The capital was raised from a diverse group of global institutional investors and will be deployed across Orion’s platform to support the development and expansion of mining and mineral processing projects worldwide. The transaction further reinforces Orion’s position as a leading investment firm dedicated to providing flexible capital solutions to the natural resources sector and advancing the reliable supply of materials underpinning future economic growth and industrial innovation.
The Sidley team was led by Jennifer A. Spiegel, Noam M. Waltuch, and Ellen Murphy (Investment Funds), and included Christian D. Barraza (Tax); and Meegan E. Mayer and Elaine R. McCartin (Investment Funds).
