Sidley Represents Churchill Downs in Its Acquisition of Preakness Intellectual Property Rights

Sidley is representing Churchill Downs Incorporated (Nasdaq: CHDN) in its acquisition of the intellectual property rights of the Preakness Stakes. The US$85 million deal also includes the rights for the Black-Eyed Susan Stakes, a race traditionally conducted at Pimlico Race Course on the day before Preakness. The acquisition, which includes all trademarks and associated rights, will help Churchill Downs in its efforts to fully realize the potential of a redeveloped Pimlico and Preakness Stakes within the Triple Crown.
The Sidley team is being led by Brent Steele (M&A and Private Equity) and includes Taylor Shuman and McKenna Chadwick (M&A and Private Equity), and Stephen Fronk and Paul Kariyawasam (Technology Transactions).
