SOFYA ABRAMS is counsel in the firm’s Los Angeles office and practices in the Investment Funds group. Her practice focuses on the representation of managers in the organization and re-organization of their investment advisory businesses and on the structuring, formation and operation of domestic and offshore hedge funds, private equity funds, real estate funds and a wide variety of other types of private investment funds, using a broad range of investment strategies and targeting a broad range of asset classes. Sofya regularly advises clients on regulatory and corporate matters related to domestic and international fund securities offerings as well as U.S. federal and state investment adviser regulation and compliance. She also represents clients in negotiated transactions that include managed account agreements, single investor funds, investor side letters and “seed” investment arrangements.
Sofya is part of the Investment Funds practice team that has won numerous top awards as a provider of legal services to the private funds industry, including being multiple time recipients of U.S. News – Best Lawyers “Law Firm of the Year” in Private Funds/Hedge Funds Law (2016, 2018–2019) and ranked Band 1 for Hedge Funds by Chambers USA (2008–2020). The team is also a two-time winner of Chambers and Partners’ “Investment Funds Team of the Year for the U.S.” in 2008 and in 2013.
