JOHN WHITE practices in the firm’s Insurance and Financial Services group.

John earned his J.D. from the the University of Chicago Law School and received his B.A. with high honors in History from James Madison University.

Prior to joining the firm, John served as a PILI Fellow for the Edwin F. Mandel Legal Aid Clinic’s Mental Health Advocacy Project.

• Jefferies Financial Group Inc. in connection with its investment in Hildene Holding Company, LLC, the parent of credit-focused asset manager Hildene Capital Management LLC and its affiliates, made concurrently with Hildene’s signing of a definitive agreement to acquire SILAC Inc., the parent of SILAC Insurance Company.
• OneAmerica Financial in the sale of its full-service retirement plan business to Voya, involving approximately US$60 billion of assets under administration.
• PIMCO as investor and investment manager in Pando Re, a Bermuda-based collateralized (re)insurance sidecar focused on Aspen Insurance Holdings’ casualty business.
• Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan in its affiliation with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Vermont.
• American International Group in the sale of Crop Risk Services to American Financial Group for approximately US$240 million.
• Nassau Financial Group in the acquisition of Delaware Life Insurance Company of New York.
• Athene Holding and Apollo Global Management in the formation and capitalization of Athene Co-Invest Reinsurance Affiliate 1A, Ltd. (ACRA), a long-duration, on-demand capital vehicle funded by Athene and certain investment funds managed by Apollo.
• Accelerant in the launch of its US$175 million Flywheel Re sidecar investment vehicle focused on the SME market.
• Venerable in its transaction with Manulife to reinsure approximately US$22 billion of variable annuity business from John Hancock.
