News & Insights
Sidley’s Chicago office traces its roots to 1866. For 160 years, the firm has grown with Chicago and remains one of the city’s legal powerhouses. Nearly 500 Chicago lawyers offer insights to our diverse client base on a broad range of high-stakes litigation, complex transactions, and regulatory matters. We are at the forefront of solving complex challenges and shaping new frontiers in technology and AI, private equity, life sciences, and finance.
Giving back is central to Sidley’s culture. Each year, our lawyers and staff support and participate in a wide range of Chicago-based service projects and volunteer initiatives that enrich the lives of others.
Our Chicago office dedicates substantial resources to the community and a variety of pro bono activities. In addition to an extensive commitment to death penalty matters, veterans’ rights, and asylum cases, our lawyers collectively contribute more than 45,000 pro bono hours annually and serve more than 200 cultural, academic, and civic organizations.
In 1984, Sidley was the first Chicago law firm to “adopt” a public school, beginning a partnership with Kanoon Magnet Elementary School that is now the longest-running of its kind in the city. For four decades, generations of Sidley lawyers and staff have contributed their time, energy, and resources to assist in improving the educational opportunities afforded to the students at Kanoon. This enduring partnership strengthens our firm and enriches our lives as profoundly as it supports the school community.
