U.S. DOJ Unveils New Components of Effective Corporate Compliance Programs

The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) continues its recent streak of announcing notable policy changes related to corporate crime and compliance. Earlier today, Assistant Attorney General Kenneth Polite delivered remarks at the American Bar Association’s annual National Institute on White Collar Crime. In his speech, he unveiled updates to DOJ’s Evaluation of Corporate Compliance Programs (ECCP). This Sidley Update focuses on two of the most notable changes. Companies should review these developments, discussed below, and take steps to critically assess their compliance programs to help prepare for and align with DOJ’s new expectations for effective compliance programs.
